#ISeoulU Part 11 – Myeongdong District and Gangnam District

Myeongdong Shopping Center

Cosmetics, international brands for the masses. This is the best place for you. The time of our visit is the summer end sale, so imagine how heavenly that is for us who come from a tropical country.

Sale in F21 is almost a giveaway, even here in the Philippines, during sale season, they do not drop the prices as low as they do in Seoul.

Here in the Philippines, you usually find the shops inside the malls while in Seoul, you find that everything has their own unique buildings. If you shop, you enter one building to another. Takes a lot of time, huh. It’s fun, really!

Street Food

South Korea has one of the best food ever! We lived off mostly on street foods and GS25 packed meals but it’s all worth it. Next time though, we would want to eat in the restaurants. It’s just a little struggle since most of the menus doesn’t have english translations and they hardly speak the language. And I learned that when you pay, you have to go directly to the counter after you eat. Definitely, there would be a next time.

Anyway, Street Food and Packed meals from GS25 are worth for backpackers. Aside from you’d definitely feel full, it’s affordable. Food ranges from KRW2000-KRW6500 which sometimes is good for two people or two meals.

When in Myeongdong Shopping District, you’d find the shoppers (sometimes in group) share food. Aside from it’s a strategy to taste everything so you won’t get full immediately, they really do have big servings.

One more thing I love about South Korea, when they say fruit juice, it really means from fresh fruits. Heaven!

We did try to taste everything, but really there’s just too many to choose from. We still didn’t get to cover everything. 😉

Oh by the way, don’t forget to visit the supermarkets, because free samples of food are everywhere! 🙂

Gangnam District

Gangnam is located at the southern part of the Hangang river. It is an expensive district. This is where the higher members of the society live and shop. Luxury brands, expensive shops and restaurants are everywhere in the area.

The Underground shopping centers, though, offer cheap price.
